As I said in my previous post, the primary goal of the photo-walk I did when I was last in London was to photograph The Shard. As such, this, the second image in the series, is one of my favourite images I captured of the structure. I love the soaring, clean geometric lines and the way it recalls the many church spires visible across London. I find it a very optimistic building and think it’s a great addition to the city.
One of the things I have always appreciated about London is its green spaces. Though I love cities, particularly London, I have always been happiest in the outdoors and in nature so, when I lived in London, I often found solitude in the green spaces. This duality was immediately apparent to me when I spotted The Shard through the winter-bare branches of some trees in a square. I spent some time trying to find a composition that I felt reflected the personal resonance and think this one does the trick!
