The review of my photographic archives is proving enlightening and very fruitful. As I’d hoped, it is revealing connections and patterns in my photography which are, in turn, helping me to better understand my motivation and inspiration.
The previous two posts illustrated my love for photographing historical and classical architecture. I am fascinated by the relationship between mathematics, order and beauty that is so apparent in these structures. This weekend I discovered that this theme of geometry and beauty influences and informs other subject matter that I have regularly photographed over the years.
There is one particular subject matter that is quite different but very closely related (depending how you look at it). It is a popular photographic subject and this image provides a visual clue. I’d be curious to see if anyone can guess what this related theme/subject is?
My next post will reveal the answer.
p.s. the image shows a detail of the dome in the Pantheon, Rome.
